Glenn Navia
Mixer
As Glenn's biographer, I feel comfortable telling you that Glenns childhood was cooler than yours. It was cooler than mine too. While our childhoods were sneaking Mike's Hard Lemonade into our parents' basements, Glenn's childhood was running with the bulls in Pamplona. I mean, not really... it's a metaphor? Glenn was born in Cuba, but 5 weeks later fled from Castros oppressive rule (drama!) with his parents for the U.S's welcoming shores. Glenn and his family lived all over the U.S. (New Orleans... Minnesota... Virginia... Galveston, Texas) and, when Glenn was 9, moved to Belgium tempted by the countrys beer selection and its infamous waffles. It was in Belgium that Glenn learned French, rather than the arguably more logical choice, Flemish, which we all know is spoken by more people around the globe. In Glenn's defense, learning French made him tri-lingual, which is pretty awesome. At 13 Glenn moved to Venezuela where he lived for 5 years with his family and probably got into some shenanigans. I bet there's a story or two there.
At 18 Glenn left Venezuela and enrolled at the University of Vermont (Go... umm... Catamounts!). Glenn did the whole college thing for a couple years before he dropped out and really lived life, you know? Like, lived life. He also did some odd jobs, got to listen to some GREAT bands and essentially befriended the entire state of Vermont during this time. Glenn's next adventure was at the Berklee School of Music, from which he graduated. Just a week after graduating, Glenn became an assistant mixer at Video One in Boston. A mere 6 months later he upgraded to full-on mixer, thanks to his superior falling victim to 80's excess (but who didn't? Am I right guys? Kidding. Just say no). Glenn did some great work at Video One, and 5 years later was able to start up a studio with some partners, Syncro Sound, also in Boston at The Cars' (Ric Ocasek!) former studio. After some time at Syncro Sound, mildly burnt out, Glenn washed his hands of mixing in order to seek passion, which he found working for the ill-fated Paul Tsongas campaign. We all know how that turned out (see: Clinton - '92), so with a renewed enthusiasm for the art of mixing, Glenn started freelancing again in our nation's capital. Since DC is not exactly known for its scintillating advertising scene it wasn't long before Glenn was in that NY state of mind and busted out of DC for the Big Apple where he did some pretty fantastic mixing at the now defunct studio, Superdupe, for 9 years.

This brings us to 2002, when Glenn started at hsr, where he has been ever since, doing some amazing work in Studio 12 and working on acclaimed campaigns such as New York Lottery, Accenture, MetLife & Dannon and working with some of the world's best agencies such as DDB, Young & Rubicam, McGarry Bowen, BBDO & McKinney Silver. Long story, long-ish, I cannot recommend Glenn highly enough if you're choosing a mixer. He's got the goods and also probably some stories from that childhood that was cooler than ours.
